产品简介:
The ISL54100 is a high performance TMDS (Transition Minimized Differential Signaling) timing regenerator and multiplexer for HDMI and DVI applications. It is the only single chip solution in the marketplace today that performs both retiming and input switching functions.
It features a programmable equalizer and a clock data recovery (CDR) function for each of the 3 TMDS pairs in an HDMI or DVI signal. Compared to other multiplexers on the market that use the standard “equalize and slice” approach, the ISL54100’s 3 CDR units actually recreates the signal. The TMDS data outputs of the ISL54100 are regenerated and realigned to the regenerated TMDS clock signal, creating an extremely clean, low-jitter signal that can be easily decoded by even finicky DVI/HDMI receivers, including HDMI 1.3-compliant devices. Since the output of the ISL54100 is completely regenerated, an infinite (in theory) number of ISL54100’s could be put in series with a net positive effect on signal quality and output jitter!
This represents a dramatic improvement in the ability of consumer and professional digital video equipment to cope with the myriad of sources of pathological TMDS signals, whether from inexpensive, improperly shielded and matched cables, poorly-designed first- and second-generation DVI/HDMI transmitters, or incorrectly-manufactured PCBs with poor impedance control – the regenerated output of the ISL54100 will generate a pristine output signal. In a marketplace where compatibility is critical, and only a few dissatisfied users can generate Internet reviews that can affect worldwide opinion of a product, the ISL54100 is cheap insurance.
The symmetrical package pinout (128-lead MQFP) of the ISL54100 means designers can experience an easier board layout when creating designs that require 2 or more devices, such as a Dual-Link multiplexer, a 4:2 crosspoint switch or an 8:1 multiplexer.
The ISL54100 is targeted for use in stand-alone HDMI and DVI muliplexers and repeaters, Audio/Video receivers, TVs, set top boxes, and DVD players and recorders, as well as any application that must work robustly in the presence of poor quality TMDS signals.
